Which recent projects are you proud of?

Last year, I created the Enterprise Customer Strategy blueprint to define whom Best Buy aims to serve, the value proposition, the role of channels, and how to measure the experience. While I led our segmentation and value proposition efforts, other team members oversaw the other pieces of the program. It was fascinating to see how all the multiple projects started to synchronize to shape Best Buy’s customer experience for the long term and democratize the Customer Strategy across the enterprise. 

​

​I’m proud that the segmentation strategy will guide investment decisions based on the customer’s long-term value, and the brand positioning/ value proposition work will provide clarity and alignment within the organization about what role Best Buy can play in customers’ lives and what value Best Buy can deliver to its segments.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about humans (customers, consumers, patients, caregivers, employees, you name it). I love understanding their needs and identifying opportunities to provide value-driven solutions by delivering outstanding experiences while solving complex business problems. I enjoy being able to influence strategic decisions by providing actionable customer insights to my stakeholders and co-creating with them.

​

​From the self-fulfillment perspective, I am passionate about mindfulness, a practice I started last year, and to be honest, I haven’t mastered it yet.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success, and why?

I’m an empathetic, decisive leader who intuitively can put myself in others' shoes and hear unvoiced questions. My empathy helps me to foster a collaborative environment crucial to leading cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders' expectations. My decisiveness helps me take effective steps to make progress toward my goals and stand by my decisions.

​

Finally, I’m committed to the growth of each member of my team. I develop them by challenging, coaching, and putting them in the spotlight. I believe that when you genuinely focus on the people you work with, they provide better outcomes as they enjoy what they are doing.

What life circumstance has most shaped your world view?

When my daughter was 18 months old, she was frequently sick and had developmental delays. Doctors kept telling me that it was a virus and that kids develop in different ways, but my intuition kept telling me that there was something else. After 6 months of multiple evaluations, Genetics found out that she has a Chromosome X microdeletion, and because of that, she has rare conditions, including a metabolic disorder called OTC.

​

​She is now 8 years old; we have her metabolic disorder and development under control. I learned that although you can’t control everything in your life, you can always control what you will do about the circumstances. The journey wasn’t always easy, but I celebrate her life every day. I’m thankful for all the learnings and the person I became. I’m avid about kids' development and different ways of learning (I honestly don’t like the word disabilities because I believe every person has a different set of abilities).
